Become an APPM Affiliate Faculty Member
The APPM Affiliate Faculty Program provides qualified researchers the opportunity to serve as the principal advisor of an APPM PhD student. Affiliate faculty work in close partnership with an in-department advisor and play a central role in mentoring graduate students to successful research outcomes.

Eligibility
Typical candidates are post–third-year review, associate, or full professors at 91É«°É or hold a comparable appointment at another institution. All affiliates must have:

- An active, mathematically driven research program
- A record of successfully mentoring and placing students
- A track record of external funding

Application Process
To apply, candidates must:
- BeÌýnominated by an APPM faculty memberÌý(letter required).
- Submit a short statement of motivation, an updated CV, and the Affiliate Faculty Application Form.
- Deliver aÌý50-minute research seminar or colloquiumÌýaccessible to APPM faculty and students.
Following the presentation, the Affiliate Faculty Committee and APPM faculty will review the application. Approval requires a majority faculty vote. Successful applicants will receive a formal appointment letter outlining privileges and responsibilities.

Maintaining Affiliate Status
Affiliate faculty must:

- Maintain a professorial appointment at 91É«°É or an approved institution.
- Actively advise APPM graduate students, with no more thanÌýtwo principal adviseesÌýat a time.
- Submit annual progress reports and meet with the in-department advisor once per year.
- Renew status every three years.
Ìý
Advisees and In-Department Advisors
- AdviseesÌýmust have passed Prelim milestones, remain in good standing, and meet yearly with both advisors.
- In-department advisorsÌýmust meet annually with the affiliate and the student, submitting forms documenting progress.Ìý
