- The College of Engineering and Applied Science, the College of Arts and Sciences and the Leeds School of Business are teaming up to highlight 91É«°É-led research to address climate change from 3-5 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the Olson Atrium of the Rustandy Building.
- The Optics and Photonics Research Group at 91É«°É have demonstrated meaningful advances in fiber-based, quantum-enhanced remote sensing and probing of photosensitive materials.
- Komarek and co-authors, Bielefeldt and Knight won Best Paper LEAD Division and the Best Overall Professional Interest Council (PIC) paper award across a group of divisions at the ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition 2022 last summer.
- Researchers at 91É«°É are using lasers to precisely quantify the performance of high-speed engines. Those measurements – recently described in detail in Optica – are key to propelling superfast hypersonic vehicles and providing better engine performance overall.
- The Fox Group, led by Jerome Fox, assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering at 91É«°É, was awarded $1.1 million of a five-year, $12.8 million U.S. Department of Energy grant, which involves seven universities and institutions and paves the way for broader use of non-food oilseed crops in the chemical industry.
- Just five U.S. universities have trained 1-in-8 tenure-track faculty members serving at the nation’s institutions of higher learning, according to new 91É«°É research.
- A state-of-the-art instrument coming soon to 91É«°É will improve research around quantum engineering and may eventually prove to be a game-changer for interdisciplinary materials and device research in the Rocky Mountain region.
- The Research Support Office will host Sandia Day 2022 – with research presentations, poster session and networking event – from 2:15-5 p.m. Aug. 29 on the first floor of the Gallogly Discovery Learning Center to celebrate the growing partnerships between engineering and Sandia National Laboratory.
- Provost Russ Moore appointed Molenaar as the college’s permanent dean in late June. Molenaar said he has already started discussions with leadership about updating the college’s strategic vision and plans to move into an inclusive and encompassing feedback phase for that work in the near future.
- To highlight the contributions of postdocs and postdoc mentors, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) will be recognizing Outstanding Postdocs and Outstanding Mentors during National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW), September 19-23.
