EH&S reviews construction projects which go through theÌýPlanning, Design and Construction Project FeasibilityÌýstudy, Ìýto identify and mitigate potential health, safety, and environmental hazards before, during, and after construction. The goal is to communicate hazards to contractors working on the project and ensure minimal impact to building occupants while ensuring the project complies with all federal, state, and local regulations. Certain areas on campus require special considerations based on research, equipment, or other facility specific activities. All information gathered during the project review, special considerations and subsequent inspections is summarized in the Environmental Compliance Document (ECD) and provided to project design teams and contractors to communicate hazards and campus requirements.
EH&S has access to historic building data related to regulated building materials in many areas on campus. This information can often be used to assist project managers and departments in developing scopes, and potential costs when assessing the feasibility of future projects.
